Bottle at home in London. Pours dark brown, somewhat clear with a strong, creamy beige head. Aroma holds some enticing roasted malts, a bit of dirt, milk chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with a rich, pronounced chocolate character, some baking cocoa and milk chocolate, mellow burnt wood bitterness along with some earth and dirt, subtle pine and toasted leaves. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with dry, roasty bitterness, light minerals, hefty and true chocolate notes. Very nicely rounded beer. Good chocolate, good bitter/sweet balance. Nice work.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, Kentish Town - 20/04/12. Dark mahogony brown with a thin off-white head. Roasted malts at the fore of the nose allied to bitter chocolate, wood bark and licquorice. Full flavoured porter full on roasted malts, toffee, chocolate and some dark fruits. Medium bodied with a dry finish - a British porter with bollocks and not lacking in any way like some of its contemporaries.

Cask@GBBF2012. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral some sweet malts as well as mild wooden and sappy notes. Flavour is rather similar in a nice balance. More of a bitter than an APA imho.

Cask at the Trafalgar Freehouse, Merton. It pours clear amber, with a thin white head. The nose is wood, leather, toffee and some citrus trying to get through. The taste is leather, wood, leaf, citrus pith, varnish and green hop, with a very dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit of disappointment really.
