Description

Clear orange beer, no head. Aroma: sweetish, fruity, bit yeasty, metallic, chlorine, oxidized. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish, fruity, soft bitterness, some tannins, wheat notes. Aftertaste: bit acidic, fruity touch, bit oxidized, sourish, lemony touch. Still drinkable after all these years.

Sampled from 7yo bottle @ late RBBSG. Yellowish color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, wheat, a slight sourish touch, maybe a distant citrussy hint. Not much more to it. Oh well. Drinkable.

Newish strong Toëtelèr, spotted by coincidence at Drinks 4 U in Deinze, 75 cl bottle with crown cap bought there and shared with Goedele, Jan and Pieter. Regularly shaped, pale yellowish beige, moussy, slowly receding and opening head on an initially clear, warm bronze-tinged copper coloured beer with fierce fizz, misty with sediment. Aroma of caramel candy, brandy, honey, dried banana slices, marmalade, old dried orange peel, sweet field flowers, candied figs, ginger powder. Sweet onset, fig-like with apricot- and vague banana-like notes, some dried citrus peel fraîcheur, fizzy carb; lots of residual, honeyish white sugary sweetness accompany a caramelly, somewhat resinous malt sweet body towards a mildly spicy, warming finish with port-like alcohol, spicy phenols and a herbal hop bitterishness, as well as a light metallic after effect. Quad-like in the La Trappe sense of the word I'd say, decent enough but open to improvement - perhaps lowering the sweetness would be a good start...

Sampled at zythos 2018. Thnx for sharing, everyone! Pours unclear amberbrown. No real head. Smell is full, yeasty (esters). Taste is bit plastic like. Overly yeasty. The beer really conflicts, and the result is not nice.
