Description
Something is going on in the old Antwerp harbour.

Two icons, the Hoppenbrouwers family and Felix Pakhuis, forged a band of brothers through their common passion for the proud Belgian beer tradition.

The Hoppenbrouwers family has tons of experience in brewing beer. After all Hoppenbrouwers means brewers of hop beer. Where the Hoppenbrouwers family’s experience lies in brewing beer, Felix Pakhuis’ experience lies in pouring beer and they do that with a grandeur reflecting the Felix Pakhuis building’s splendor and history.

Through both icons’ shared passion for beer, an experimental brewery brewing limited batches of beer in the Felix Pakhuis cellars, was born.

Vrij helder lichtgeel bier met mooie stevige schuimkraag. Smaak is goed bitter en fruitig met iets van citrus, wat grastonen en vaag iets van limoen.Heel goed hoor!

Huge, very fine & dense just-yellowish head over finely carbonated yellow-golden beer; presenting shards of lace. Sweetish, weyish beer with an aroma of milkripe wheat and garden herbs. Shortly sharpish, herbal flavour followed by sugary restsugars. I'm almost certain some wheat has been included, though lacking in the ingredients list, it features some hints that are reminiscent of Peeterman. Quite slick, wheatslickness (?), good carbonation. Quite good - again one! Has a definite Flemish Brabant streak, despite being brewed for Antwerpen. Thanks to Stef!

Pale blond with light haze and lasting thin head. Initial hit of banana sweetness but then a light citrusy zesty note kicks in too. Interesting and different.

Bottle thnx to the crew @ Felix Pakhuis. Apparently brewed by their own recipe ( co-developed by some very respectable experts ) and brewed at Anders. The aim was a Duvel Like strong ale, with Styrian Golding and Saaz. The beer is currently labeled as 'Speciale Belge ' which is obviously pretty damn far from what it is. The new batch will have this misinformation removed. The beer pours slightly unclear yellow, smell is pefrumy, malty, mild smokey almost (yeaststress? ) mild hopnore. Earthy, raw, but off. Taste is full, bit bitter, bit harsh. Malty. overcarbonated. OK. Apparrently, the big bottles / Tap is better, and so will be the new brew (they hope) So will re-rate when tried again.
