Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet and very malty combined with notes of alcohol and berries. The flavor is sweet and again very malty combined with a strong note of alcohol, that burns the throat, and lighter notes of berries and fruit. Very simple - too simple for my liking.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Clear, amber golden with an off-white head. Intense hop aroma - also with some caramel and phenols. Medium body with caramel and nut accents - a little fruit also. Hoppy finish with a surprising alcohol bite. 171107

Bottle # 0842 of 2000. Pours a deep, rusty, nearly opaque amber orange with a creamy, thick slightly tan head. Kinda looks like it was poured on nitro or something. Smells of citrus and pine, with hints of spice and dry hops. Flavor is strong, grass, pine, hops, resin. Maybe too strong. Finish is less astringent than I would have expected, with a heavy, nearly syrupy mouthfeel. Reminder me more of a barleywine than an I2PA, but that could be splitting hairs when there’s this much malt and hops in one bottle.

22 oz bottle. Red-brown colored pour, with a off white head. Aroma is hoppy - pines - with a caramel and fruit flavor to it all with a nice amount of hops as well. Solid, and even though I like it, it’s missing something.

22 oz bottle. Flavors are pretty subtle, but nice which includes fruit, caramel, and a little hop. Not what I’d expect from a "American Strong Ale" - though it could be deceptively strong, in which case it masks well.

Roasted chestnut, charred oak, hearty, and hoppy aroma. Excellent balance. Black pour with a slow buikling medium tan head. Very nutty and dirty, walnut, chestnut, and bark with a charred quality. Dirty palate. Really unique and earthy. A good segue between a porter and an ABA. With a few more hops this could be perfect.

Yikes! 22oz bottle 1555 out of 2007. Pours a very reddish brown. Slightly off-white creamy head. Some early lacing. Aroma of hop, grapefruit, some cherry, and sweet caramel malts. As the beverage warms the alcohol becomes more present. I’m taking a wild stab that this beer is higher than 9% and probably is close to 10%. I’m was sipping on this almost 2 hours and it was still great towards the end.

Deep dark amber coloured body with a tan head - this is an Imperial IPA? Aroma of hops of course, but more malt and pit fruit than anything else. Medium-bodied; Strong hops and malt in the taste coupled with spices, yeast and pit fruits. Aftertaste shows more of the same with raisins and metal more evident than an overdose of hops. Overall, a decent beer - not related to the style as much as they’d like, but a good beer to try nonetheless. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Kevin at Grape & Gourmet in Virginia Beach, Virginia on 29-September-2007.

Bottle 1488 of 2007. Opaque ruby brown body with a medium creamy tan head. Strong earthy and floral hops aroma with a malty background. Sweet caramel and brown sugar with an earthy and floral hop ending.

Clear deep mohogany body with a medium frothy light brown head. Sweet caramel and molassas aroma with a hint of rum-soaked fruit. Sweet molassas and rum-soaked fruit flavor with a touch of dry chocolate and a slightly astringent finish.
