Clear deep mohogany body with a medium frothy light brown head. Sweet caramel and molassas aroma with a hint of rum-soaked fruit. Sweet molassas and rum-soaked fruit flavor with a touch of dry chocolate and a slightly astringent finish.

A very good ipa. Citrus aroma. Flavor has sweet caramel, ripe fruit, pine, and a grapefruit finish. Light red color. I didnโt expect such a big, flavorful pale ale, but this beer delivered.

Quite nice. Not very complex but what is there is very good. High abv surely but it is well hidden. Thick, heavy palate. Aroma and flavor have sweet malt and brown sugar, and flavor has moderate hops as well. Thanks Bob.

Not a very good weizen but a good American wheat. Not sure what is colonial about it. It does appear unfiltered at least. Sweet flavor with wheat and sugar. No citrus or coriander or other spices that I would like in the style. Refreshing at least, and the palate is ok.

Shockoe festival Richmond VA-Draft: Beefy aroma. Clear amber pour, medium yellow head. Tastes of raisins and mincemeat, but not as sweet. Good hop finish. Unique and uprated for originality.

I thought I had tried this before, but I see that I havenโt. Aroma is fairly generic roasted malts, but decent. Opaque brown, with a thin tan head and good lacing. Flavor is a good balance of charred wood and lemon peel, fairly strong. Finish is grass. Very enjoyable.

From the bottle poured a completely opaque deep brown with a creamy 1 finger, lacing, slightly tan head. Smells nutty and malty, with a faint hint of maple. Flavor is very nutty, but not from the yeast like some Belgians, but from the malt. I can honestly say I donโt think Iโve had a beer like this. Darker and more roasted malts than your average nut brown, smoother and sweeter than an imperial nut brown. This is much lighter and more drinkable than it looks. Even with the darker malts it still could have used more of a hop presence to add some complexity. Nice beer though.

Bottle #1806. Poured a nealy opaque copper red with a frothy slightly tan head. Aroma smells a bit like candy, sugary with hints of dark fruit like plums. Flavor is strongly malty, very similar to the malt of a barley wine with touches of caramel and citrus like lemons and grapefuit. Not overly citrus or bitter from the hops though. Finish is all barley wine though, heat and alcohol that coats and warms the throat. This beer was sweet and drinkable despite what I can only assume is a high ABV. Glad I snagged 2 of these, wonder how it will age over a year or two.

Abundant hops in the aroma. A red beer. Flavor lacks the hops of the flavor, and is based on malt. Very drinkable, and almost a session beer, but I suspect it is too strong for that.
