My 33 cl bottle came by way of the Netherlands. I see a stamp on the label, apparently the best- by date, of 20/11/22. The Chimay glass is arrayed for the tasting this cool, late fall evening. The view is amber-brown in color finished with a steadily recharged, slight skim of creamy tan foam. I smell ripe fruit and baked bread. The drink, right off, I find to represent quadrupels well. Dark plums, raisins, a hint of chocolate, malt, leather and grain. It gives a substantial sensation, dense. And there’s a moderate bitterness at the end. All very nice in the style I like best.

Very good, very fine & dense, just yellowish head, leaving shards of lace over (cold)hazed golden beer. Grains, quite grassy, green herbs & weeds, spicy. Malty & grassy. Pale and lightly coloured malts. Quite sweet if with a nice, lightly toasted and faintly bitterish surround. Medium bodied, quite slick, good carbonation. Not half bad. Thx to L&Y for bringing!

Arbitrary rating for appearance 8/10 due to insufficient lighting Sweet-nutty nose, suggesting oxydation, bit of arachide, chocolate bar with nuts. Drier in the mouth, traces of alcohol, again chocolate bar with raisins. Slight acidity playing. Well bodied, very slick almost sticky. Just better than average, classical Walloon brune. Txs to L&Y for bringing

Small, reasonably stable cream-coloured head over cold hazed, orangeish amber beer. Syrup/caramel nose; fruity esters, honeyish. Sweet caramelly malts obvious, nutty. More bitterish, leafy. Dry, but with still quite some (rest)sugars in the finish, which is also slightly metallic. Chestnuts. Good carbonation, slick and even a bit sticky, oily feel. Not half bad. A top-fermenting Vienna, IMO. Txs to L&Y for bringing!

Slow, but then immense build-up of flamingo foam on a deep red cardinal beer; textbook lace. Bubble gum with a faint, artificial fruitaroma, red fruit, green felt. Woody-bitterish, if floating on a almost syrupy sweet cherry bed, again not totally natural; wood, green leaves, kale and sulphur. Nose suggested a very light beer, but there is a certain bite, body to it. Very good carbonation. Humph... There's (much) worse, but still... Txs to L&Y for bringing!
