Description
Fat Head's was founded in 1992 as a premiere craft beer tap house and restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2009 we expanded to Ohio and teamed up with our award-winning Head Brewmaster Matt Cole. With the explosion in popularity came the necessity to open a full-scale production brewery in 2012. Fat Head's Brewery produces original ales and lagers for distribution throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Our Tap House offers Samples, Flights, and Fresh-brewed Pints! Sit right in the heart of our facility and enjoy the freshest beer from our tanks to your pint glass. We have a 16 tap draft system, bar seating, picnic tables, and some seriously tasty grub to go with it.

Bottle. Pours a clean gold with a thin head. Nice streams of carbonation make it look kinda busy and nose is pretty interesting. It has some pretty traditional citrus, but it seems to also have some different things that seem pretty novel: melon and berry (strawberry?!) It's just different enough to make me wonder if I'm coming down with a cold or something. Flavor is a bit of a disappointment. There is a decent amount of bitterness on the tail end, but the front end is just malt with a little bit of floral and fruity hops. More of an APA than IPA in my book.

This beer is a clear pale golden color with a medium thick frothy white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Sticky strings of lacing. Aroma of resiny hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, grapefruit and biscuit malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering zesty citrusy hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle at a share: pours copper with a white head. Aroma is nutmeg, ginger, general spiciness. Taste is super spicy. Not bitter. Not sour. Solid for what it is.

12 ounce bottle. Dark brown color is barely translucent. Small foamy beige cap. Notes of dark malt and dried fruit in nose. Rich toasted malt flavor upfront. Earthy yeast notes. Think baked dark bread and raisins. Deliciously spiced with warming notes of toffee, dried fruit and vanilla. Complex and flavorful. Best indulged at about 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to allow the complex flavors to emerge. Warming alcohol is noticeable in finish. Hard to find, but well worth seeking out.

Sample at Eclipse Company Store as part of Ohio Brew Week. Black pour with some brown around the edges, and a medium khaki head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Malt, whiskey, cinnamon and chocolate in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of whiskey, chocolate malt, cinnamon and chili pepper. The finish is boozy with a spice and chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Flight at Fat Head's Saloon, Pittsburgh, PA. Pours a marvelous deep amber, looking dense and sticky, with no foam. Aroma is weak, malty and caramel. Body is fairly dense, with limited carbonation. Taste is medium-high sweet, alcoholic. Final is fairly long and sweet.
