Description
Many moons ago, in the black of the night, Viking invaders were about to attack our hometown of Stirling, when a howling wolf alerted the defenders, who saved the town. We raise a glass to that wolf. The Black Wolf.

Started brewing in January 2004 using the name City of Stirling Brewery. It was initially a sister brewery to Bridge of Allen and Trossachs Craft Brewery. During late 2005 a new company was formed to allow further investment and the brewery name was changed to just Stirling Brewery at the same time. The name then changed to Traditional Scottish Ales Ltd in 2006. The name changed once more in 2014 to its current version.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - orange and hay. Taste - more tangy oranges almost into marmalade. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a decent example of the style.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of metal, tinned peach and grain. Flavour of watery grain, cigarette butts and a sour finish - horrible. Thin body with a watery texture. Fizzy carbonation. I never trust a sub 5.0% beer advertised as an IPA.

Bottle from Mouton Rouge Canterbury and drunk at home. Clear amber lasting off white head. Tastes a bit pasteurised, bit tired. Has some hops, but it’s all a bit empty. Not great.
