I gotta start avoiding these macro pale lagers, they mostly taste the same, and frankly, I can’t say too much good about it.

Can: Poured a deep gold color lager with a small bubbly white head with limited retention. Aroma of adjunct is pretty heavy and kind of gross with a sweet aftertaste. Taste is really dominated by adjunct with some sweetness and no hops at all. Another boring and quite bland macros.

Can. Had a patch when this was our beer in HS. Not so anymore, pure crap.

Definately not a good beer, but at least it is a beer and a relatively drinkable one at that. This is cheap and relatively inoffensive. Not too much taste or anything in that vein. My father told me that he used to drink the real stuff back on the day, this seems to be just a pale (lager) reflection. I would drink it again above many other cheap-o beers.

40 oz. Wow wow wow is this stuff bad. Malty, corny, and almost fuel like in aroma and flavor.

(Can 47,3 cl) Pale pilsener golden with a white head. Sweet aroma of brewing cereal. Thin and watery body with a high sweetness and notes of corn. No bitterness - this is all candy. Very inharmonious. 010406

Can. Sour malt aroma with hint of lemon. Light golden yellow with small head. Straight barley malt flavor - only the slightest hint of sweetness. Quite a surprise - the can label is like an old friend from my childhood as I probably saw ten thousand empty Schlitz cans while riding my bike through my neighborhood. Just as good as any other BMC pale lager and much cheaper. If it’s good enough for Martini’s Bar, it’s good enough for me.

Ah, the beer that made Milwaukee famous eh? Perhaps Milwaukee should sue them for the defamation. I have not had Schlitz for about 24 years now, so I really have no memory of this beer.+++ Sampled this time from a 16 oz can this beer poured a straw yellow color with a large bleach white head. Sour macro smell. The flavor is light and dominated by corn. Surprisingly smooth but then again it has no body to speak of. Bland yet surprisingly inoffensive. No aftertaste to speak of. The corn really comes out as it warms up.

Typical look, typical aroma and typical flavor of an average lager. Not really to bad and it does have a more hoppy bite to it than most macros.

Typical cheap malt liquor. Corn malt aroma. Yellow with decent head. Sweet corn malt flavor and sharp alcohol finish that burns the throat after swallowing. Fusels not quite as apparent as in many mainstream malt liquors. My first experience with this lovely beer was in 1986. I had spent the entire summer in glorious Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in Army Basic Training doing never-ending pushups and drinking nothing stronger than 2% milk and Army coffee. At the end of this great 10 weeks, my platoon was awarded the Honor Platoon for the company (which did nothing for us but got our Drill Sergeant honors as best Drill Sergeant). After weeks of yelling at us and making our lives miserable, suddenly the Drill Sergeants were our best friends. They bought us about 10 cases of various beers - one of which was a CASE of Schlitz Malt Likker (why don’t they do that anymore?). Now there are several points which must be made to understand this story: 1 - I was under 21 and was only a part-time beer drinker at this time, 2 - I hadn’t touched a drop of ethanol in about 3 months, 3 - I had lost about 40 pounds. So I got my can of SML (along with some Coors and something else - we each got 3 cans). Oh, did it taste glorious! And one beer was all it took to get me a hefty buzz (but of course, I had 2 more beers to drink). The next day was very fun. Only those who have been forced to stop drinking against their own will for a prolonged period can possibly understand the joy when you get your hands on a beer again (those who served in the military or those who have incarcerated - really not a great deal of difference overall). Had a similar experience 22 years later in Iraq - but at least there I could drink NA beer.
