Courtesy of Cigarcitybrew. Pours light black, off white, thick. Aroma grilled, cofeeish. Taste, roasted as well, light hoppy after taste, grainy finish, with nice chocolate malts. One fantastic porter, this is really the dark beer specialist.

Bottle thanks to Suttree. Shared with ilovedarkbeer. Agreed with daknole, not even close to the Baltic Porter. Pours a very dark brown, with a light brown head that gives a good lacing. Very flowery aroma with chocolate and some dark fruits, apple and papaya as well. Taste is fruit with lots of coffee, a bit bitter and metallic. Light carbonation.

Light bitter chocolate, beer remains very sweet. Some coffee in the mouthfeel. This is one impressive RIS from a great brewery. The abv will sneak up on you.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma is powerful with a weird combination of spices and fruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of fruit and light notes of alcohol, with a dry bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish light brown head - fairly clear, only slightly opaque. Aroma of roasted malt, brewed drip coffee, faint milk chocolate and a bit of lactic milk scents. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavour with some sweetness and tons of nuts. Aftertaste shows more body, malt, coffee and a bit of sweetness. Overall, a good porter - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Durham, North Carolina on 31-August-2008, sampled on 13-September-2008.

Bottle courtesy of RidleyBrewery. Pours ruby with white head. Aroma, barley and yeast, fruity. Taste malty, caramel with some fruits, possibly some sweetness from vanilla. Sirupy and loaded with sugar, will only get better with age. Everything seemed well balanced One enjoyable and drinkable barleywine.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a 2007 bottle. This brew is a hazed brownish-amber color with a minimal light beige head that disappears relatively fast. Thin rings of lacing. Peat malt and sweet caramel in the nose. Rich, sweet body with flavors of earthy malt, caramel, toffee and a touch of alcohol smoldering in the background. The finish is sweet caramel malt with a lingering smoked malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle thanks to ucusty. Pours thick, with a small, off-white head. Very dark brown body. Aroma of dark fruits, tar, liccorice, cherry, yeast and chocolate. Taste is yeasty, with some initial soy sauce, then chocolate, butter scotch, some oxidation as well. Syrupy with light bubbles.

Thanks Santa! Poured a brilliant red-mahogany color with a foaming beige head. I like this malt forward barleywine, with its huge caramelized lightly fruity malt nose and flavor. Hops are slightly resinous but are there for balance mainly, which I like in a barleywine (as opposed to some extra hoppy ones). The only thing detracting here is bites of peppery alcohol in the finish.

Thanks Santa! Very dark brown/black opaque, head foamed up full but dissipated quickly. Huge rich roasty aroma with some dark chocolate, and a chocolate milkiness. Flavor is also heavily roasted, full soft velvety with a dark bittersweet chocolate finish. Rockin!
