Brasserie de la Couronne - L'Impératrice
Microbrewery in Leval-Trahegnies, Hainaut, Belgium 🇧🇪
Established in 2019
While L'Empératrice Triple Blonde quickly gained her first letters of nobility, the history teacher turned brewer looked for a building that could accommodate his La Couronne brewery. Preferably in Leval, because Loïc Regulski is deeply attached to his village and that is where the history of L'Empératrice began. The research was not easy, but he finally found the perfect place in the old showroom of the Stiernon company. It was then necessary to overcome administrative trials and activate the supplier chain. A few months after installation, the bottling line is launched. The first bottles of the crown brewery will be out within a fortnight. The culmination of two years of work, and the start of a great adventure.

330ml bottle. Some tiny chunks float around in otherwise clear, dark amber colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, moderatly to mostly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish, malty and yeasty fruity aroma, notes of dried yellow stone fruit, apricot, mirabelle, hints of loaf, some honey, cautious herbal-spicy overtones. Taste is sweet malty and yeasty fruity, notes of dried yellow stone fruit, apricot, mirabelle, a touch of honey, loaf, some mis-matching and minimall unpleasant, herbal-spicy interludes with a tobacco touch, some warming alcohol in the finish. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft, somehow foamy-creamy, slightly cloying palate, soft but overarching carbonation signs responsible for the foamy part of the palate. Not bad.

Hazy medium amber colour, small frothy off-white head, dissipating slowly, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malts, toffee, light peach, yeast. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, toasted malts, toffee, some honey, peach, light banana, yeast, alcoho. Sweet and slightly bitter aftertaste, candy sugar, toffee, spicy notes, bit boozy. Full-bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, quite sweet for a tripel, not really subtle but rich and well-balanced, I like it.
