The Decaestecker Brewery, or Deca for short, was founded around 1880-1890 and destroyed during WO. I. The brewer not only made beer, but also lemonade. The house is an eclectic wide house. The brewery was and is in the factory buildings behind it. The brewery became after WWI. rebuilt partly with recycled material. In addition to the traditional cooling machine from around 1920 and the stirring tank from around 1850, the company has been completely modernized. In 1980 he Jo Christiaens took over the former Decaestecker brewery in Woesten. Together with his son Nicolas, he turned the Deca brewery into a profitable brewery.

An orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and oranges - and so is the flavor.

An unclear brown beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma contains notes of coriander, oranges, yeast, wet cloth, and is a little sour. The flavor though is sweet with notes of yeast and coriander and a dry hoppy end.

Bright brown body. Little head. A lot of chocolate chip cookie dough but also with brandyish fruity character. Thin, like malt extract homebrew.

Bronze colour with a slight haze. Aroma is scrumpyish, lightly caramelly. Palate has more caramel, with apples and a minerally, off-dry finish.

Hazy orange color. A bit fruity aroma, and malty taste, but probably too old; must try again...

Dark amber color; the head disappears quickly. Aroma of caramel, carbonic gas, bread. Very thin mouthfeel, dry, caramel and quite strong liquorice. Too poor.

(Tasted under the name of Bakkers' Zoete Zonde) Deep chestnut colour; very huge brownish head. Marzipan, rosewater in the nose, dark & sweet malts, a bit smoked note. There is some sweet malt but, strangely enough ("Zoete Zonde" means "sweet sin"!), bitter and even sourish carbonation determine the main taste. Palate is very much chocolate. Thick, warming mouthfeel - but lacking singularily in lustre or satisfaction. The name says it all, after all, it delivers nothing less, and certainly nothing more.

(Tasted under the name "Bakkers' Gerstenat) Orange-amber colour, slight haze; fluffy, huge head. Sweet nose, warm, liqueurish and spicey (galangaroot, orange peel, mace - spices as for a male eau de toilette). As expected, bitterish-spicey taste on top of a rather sweet malt base. Taste of cinnamon bark (more taste than the aldehyde-aroma). There is a slight biscuit-oxidation in the finish (beer is sold at bakeries (bakker) and probably shelved very badly). Medium-bodied. Carbonation, spices and alcohol form the aftertaste. For a commissioned beer it would be not bad - but I thought it a labelbeer. Too sweet to be really great.
