Sample at SBWF 2016. Golden with a white head. Aroma of hops, passion fruit and some malt. Similar taste. The body was medium as was the bitterness.

330ml bottle. Aroma is grass, peach and melon. Flavour is funky grass, lots of peach and apricot into a bitter finish. Certainly not my favourite style, but by far the best NZ example of it. Crisp, fruity and easy to drink. If I’m in the mood for something lager then this is what I’d go for every time.

Keg at SBWF. Clear golden, smal head. Huge aroma of white currant and passion fruit. Mid dry light-medium body and clean rounded mouthfeel. Dominated by gooseberry and passionfruit. Mid bitter finish.

09-10-16 // bottle from Firma Bier, at home. Pours clear golden, solid white foamy head. Hoppy fruity nose. Taste is light malty. Then fruity hops, gooseberry, light pear. Dry bitter finish. Bit like a dry fruity white wine. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sauvinova on 09 Oct 2016 at 21:04 - Score: 8

On tap at 16 Tun. Aroma is just caramel. Flavour has some caramel and some walnuts, but it’s messy. Oddly fizzy and really not much character.

330ml bottle. Pours like a fizzy lager. Aroma is sharp, a little vegetal and some apple fruitiness. Flavour is vegetal, quite sharp, a little too savoury. It is a remarkably good interpretation of the helles style, but that’s not a great thing.

330ml bottle. Aroma is fairly nondescript. Maybe some fruit in there but hard to tell what. Flavour is bigger, with a lovely refreshing citrusy start. It all blends into a decidedly English hop finish though, and for me it doesn’t work. Perhaps it’s true to the original definition of the style, but there’s a reason the American version is so much more popular. Certainly drinkable, but not great.

On tap at the Lumsden. Aroma is grassy, gooseberry, a little funky straw. Flavour is big gooseberry and straw leading into a sweet refreshing pear finish. Nice.
