35cl Blik van Beer Republic Advent #5. Mistig goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Hint van zwavel, licht granig, citroengras, citroenschil, licht bloemig, redelijk droog, degelijk bitter. Lichte body. Veel te bitter voor een Kölsch maar wel een prima bier.

Pale blond colour with quick fading head. Lots of pale malts in the aroma and taste. Solid for the style.

Fat på Biskoppensvapen Luuund. Här har vi lite parfym och blomighet. Lite vitt vin finns också . Ja jo jästdriven Dipa God. Men från vara från klassiskt USA bryggeri hade jag ju väntat mig mer kvalitet.

Very clear and nice crisp golden and lightly copper tinted body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall pure white head that fades pretty quickly, especially for the style. Aroma of pure funky, spontaneously fermented gueuze notes with a lot of wheat and dry grassiness, but the tart, funky and herbal, oaky notes really come out and define the aroma of this one in a great way, and without looking at the front, you'd think this is a classic gueuze from Belgium - very nice in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very tart spontaneously fermented notes dominate here with a great level of oaky and cedar notes as well, with a lot of sweetness towards the end, but the wheat and pure yeast funkiness dominate in a great way here and show well throughout. Aftertaste shows a great balanced beer with a light wheat malt note, but the soured and tart flavours persist and also bring out a light sweetness at the very end, with some oaky and cedar flavours and pungency as well, but the beer is complex and dry, especially at the end. Overall, a very nice, pure gueuze, with a lot of similarities of this to some of the better ones from Belgium itself, with this being made in New York (USA), I like this a lot and compared to the Red Barrel Select, this is much better in almost every way (perhaps aside from the look), but this is comparable to some of the best beers in the style and definitely worth going out of your way to find/try if you can - If I can get another bottle of this, I'll grab as many as I can and age them for a long period of time, because with a corked and caged bottle, they'll get better for a long time coming. I sampled this 37,5 cL, caged and corked bottle, horizontally with the Red Barrel Select, purchased at the same time as this one, purchased from Glen Ro Spirit Shoppe in Monroe, Connecticut on 19-December-2021 for US$9,99 (and part of a buy one, get one free promotion) sampled a few minutes after running the USMC Marathon (my eighth) with my wife on 30-October-2022 - congrats to her, and this beer is in celebration of that.

(Can) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, slightly hoppy nose with notes of pineapple, gooseberries, tropical fruit, grapefruit and a touch of birch sap. Fruity, hoppy taste with pineapple, gooseberries, apricots, grapefruit, white bread, a slightly resiny touch of birch sap and a generous citric/tropical bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and refreshing with a rich hop presence and a mild birch character. Very nice.
