Description
We're Paul & Beth Cork, the founders of Norfolk Raider Cider, the only cider brewed in Norwich. We're very proud of all the flavours of our cider. Each variation carries some family tradition with much thought and care. In our opinion this all comes together to make the best cider around.

Paul and Beth began making various apple based desserts around 4 years ago. Paul's father Terry then mentioned he had an old cider recipe. Paul then began to cut the apples by hand and crush them with a rolling pin. The first batch made 8 gallons, Paul then offered this to his neighbours and friends, they enjoyed it very much. One of Pauls neighbours offered him some apples in exchange for some of his cider, Paul then made 20 gallons.

Word quickly spread around the village that Paul was making cider, he then noticed apples suddenly turning up at his door (as they still do). Paul then began to make 100-gallon batches. This year they’ve made 7,000 litres. To get to this 7,000 litres of cider a year stage Paul needed more apples, a lot more. Paul found an apple orchard and asked the owner if he could have all of their windfalls (an apple or other fruit that has blown down from a tree or bush by the wind). The owner told Paul that he was going to pull up all of the apple trees and plant something else. Paul cut a deal with the landowner which lead him from a few trees from around his local village to 1,000 trees.

With this number of trees, it allowed Paul to begin developing new delicious flavours of cider.

500ml bottle from Co-Op Cambridge North station. Pours a hazed gold. Expected a sour, wild, funky direction but actually quite settled, fruity and generally clean. Quite nice, retaining a natural feel. October 12th 2021: Sample, many thanks to Grumbo. Clear pale golden yellow. Aroma of sweet fleshy floral apple fruit. Oily palate, no carbonation. Sweet, rich fleshy fruit, mild funk, distant pithy bitter moments, perhaps a hint of mead, but generally quite smooth and full flavoured.

23/9/2021. Bottle from Norfolk Food & Drink Co, Cromer. Pours still clear pale pink with no head. Aroma of sweet raspberry, musty apple, raspberry ripple ice cream. Medium plus syrupy sweetness with minimal tart and a slight earthy edge. Moderate body, oily texture, no carbonation. A little more tartness came through to finish but overall not one of their best.

23/9/2021. Bottle from Norfolk Food & Drink Co, Cromer. Pours still slightly hazy pale orange gold with no head. Aroma is stewed rhubarb, sweet apple and rhubarb pie, light ginger. Medium to heavy sweetness and minimal tartness. Moderate body, oily texture, no carbonation. Very sweet finish. Liked the aroma but too sweet for me, would have preferred more rhubarb tart or ginger spice.
