Description
The brewery can look back on a long tradition. It was first mentioned in 1762 as a communal brewery. Only in 1923 the brewery became private property of Sigmund Pirzer and Hans Jakob. At that time it was called Bräuhaus Nittenau. Since 1996 the brewery has been known as the Nittenau Josef Jakob brewery.

Since 2006 the Nittenauer beers are produced in the newly built brewery in the Wulkersdorferstraße in Nittenau. The new production facility with its modern technology creates an ideal space for creative brewing technology, in which old processes are reconsidered, optimized and implemented to improve the product.

Sustainability and environmentally friendly production methods are of paramount importance. The brewery favours short trade routes and convincing freshness according to the motto "From the region - for the region". 94% of the energy required is covered by an own photovoltaic system. This makes the Nittenau brewery one of the few solar beer breweries in Germany (with a seal of quality).

330ml bottle. Murky chestnut colour with late awakening, average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Smoky and wheaty, fruity, slightly chocolately aroma, notes of banana, pear, hints of peat, beechwood ashes, treacle. Taste is slightly bitter, fruity hoppy, smoky, massive fruity and minimally chocolatey basis, notes of pear, banana, hints of hazelnut, nougat, a touch of peat, diluted treacle throughout; bitter hoppy finish with a note of pear. Initially rather unbalanced, unintegrated, a veritable crowd of flavours; later more integrated and structured, still a bit jumbled - tilt Tetris at a high level.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, murky brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Piney hoppy aroma upfront with mildly spicy notes, backed by dark malt, delicately dried fruity hints and a touch of wheat and chocolate. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark malt character with wheaty notes and a whiff of smoke malt when the brew warms a bit; piney hoppy, moderately bitter finish with dark malt and chocolate. Quite hoppy Weizenbock interpretation. Good one. 09.III.16

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing. Nice and fruity floral beginning. Hints of sourness, round and smooth with a nice fresh and deep body. Hints of great intense and slightly smoky malt with an intense and sticky hop profile. I taste Simcoe, probably Polaris. Nice and intense fresh floral aftertaste over a smooth and mild yeasty body. Great stuff!

Rauchig getreidiger Beginn, würzig, hopfiger Hintergrund. Spritzig, trocken wie der helle Weizenbock, intensiv getreidig bleibend. Langer trockener Nachhall. 10/9/10/10//10

Murky brown-amber, dark orange color with beige head. Aroma is malty, fresh, spicy. Taste is dry, spicy, has a rye touch (?) and hints of smoke. Foamy, rather high carbonation. Ok, not a usual Weizenbock.
