Pours a copper-orange color with a medium creamy off-white head that burns away steadily. Patchwork lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, malt and citrus. The finish is bready malt up front with a short citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Originally rated February 2008. Awesome, Mill Street’s white beer at the LCBO. I love wit beer, and Mill Street brews are always good. Pours a cloudy light golden-yellow colour with a big creamy white head that has great retention. The nose is big on the corriander side with notes of oranges. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with not much sticking, but great refreshment. The taste is pretty mild, with a smooth mix of hop, spices and fruits. Nothing really sticking out, appealing to the mass market. What I love about witbiers, is that they are great in wintertime, and in summertime too... and this brew is no exception. Still, I prefer my Unibroue Blanche de Chambly and Boréale Blanche.

Fairly new from Mill Street and comes in their Seasonal Sampler for summer 2011. Pours a rich golden colour with a creamy white head that stays a long time and creates dirty lacing. The beer smell pretty malty and you really have to sniff lots to get hints of ginger. It has a creamy mouthfeel. The first few sips, I could not taste the ginger. Then, more and more, it got out a bit. I was expecting this to taste like ginger ale (from what I read on this brew), but no. It’s just a nice ale with some spicy ginger for the finish, but the malt is still first. Pretty nice overall... which I could try on draft at the pub itself.

8/14/2009 Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights when held to light and a creamy beige/tan head that leaves us way to soon. Smells roasty, chocolaty, caramel. Taste is roast and milk chocolate, some toffee and caramel. Sweet malty unassuming porter. Leaves a roasted grain/coffee in the finish. Body is medium to thin, mouthfeel is creamy, carbonation is medium to high. Great Porter.

8/14/2009 Picked this up at The Beer Store in Niagara Falls on our recent trip. Pours a clear reddish amber with a huge bubbly off white head that leaves lots of lace as it slowly recedes. Smells of grass, spicy and citrus hops, light caramel, and a slight mineral aroma. Taste is wow different. A bit of nutty chocolate right up front that I wasn’t expecting from the aroma. Citrus caramel mineral and grass linger in the finish. Moderate carbonation, medium body. Wow this one is not what I expected. The mineral aroma and taste was a bit of a turn off for me, but the caramel nutty chocolaty was really nice. Good but could be better.

Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily. Thin rings of lace on the glass. Aroma of yeast, banana and coriander. Light body with a fruity character that has sweet spice and yeast notes, plus some malt. The finish is doughy malt and bananas. Decent Wit overall.

Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a thin white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of grainy malt and mild hops. Light body with flavors of bready malt, grain and subtle hops. The finish is short and malty. Barely average overall.

I was quite please to find this Mill Street Seasonal Sampler 6-pack at the LCBO. I had pretty much tried all samples in this pack, except for this Belgian style Tripel. Pours a slight hazy golden colour that looks like honey. The head is nice and long-lasting, white, creamy and beautiful lacing is left. Nice soft nose of Belgian yeast, grain malt, vanilla and even mild perfume that some women wear (the one that is the closest to vanilla). Watery mouthfeel with a little stickiness and no burn whatsoever. Again, grain malt in the taste, Belgian yeast and nice spices. Not a crazy Tripel, but an easy-drinking one, just like most Mill Street beers... goes down well.

Originally rated July 2009. Got this one at the LCBO in a 6-different Mill Street brew pack. Says 5.2% ABV on the front label. Come in a brown bottle that is not a twist-off. Pours a golden colour with a copper hue. The head is off-white, creamy-foamy, with good retention and beautiful lacing. Slow mid-sized bubble carbonation. The scent is a mix of bread malt and the typical pilsner aroma. Nice refreshing mouthfeel that is crisp. The taste has a hoppy start which does not stay long, but a caramel aftertaste gets everything smooth. Well-balanced overall, and maybe not a Euro Pils, but a great beer that I would by in 12-pack if The Beer Store would carry it (for a summer brew).
