Enjoyed at the 2010 Bluesfest in Ottawa (as Mill Street is the one that got the contract this year). The beer is slightly hazy with a caramel-looking colour. Nice creamy head that is white and stays a while. Aromas of light tea with the citrus and hints of mint even. Medium-bodied with a nice crispiness to it. Grainy malt taste with the lemon zest. I did not know what to expect of this one, but I must say... it is quite a nice achievement. I really enjoyed this one in the heat of Bluesfest and glad to see it now available in cans at the LCBO.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet malt with light spicy undertones is quite pleasant. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet caramel malt with light notes of spices. Body has a somewhat creamy texture which is really enjoyable with good carbonation. Easily drinkable with a nice taste profile. Probably one of the best beer I tried from this brewer.

My last bottle of beer on my epic toronto beer drinking trip. My bank account is literally empty but this beer is a propoer send off. mocha chocolate with dry roasted malt and plenty of toffee. good bye canada.

Beer sampler saturday night at Beerbistro in Toronto. Pours is red and its tart and not too sweet but plenty of berry. pretty nice but can’t drink too much fruit beer in general. but to cap the sampler kinda like dessert terrific

On tap somewhere in Toronto, boy what a drunken weekend, but the notes made it in the phone. Its toasty caramel with some hops, its slighty spicy and smoky with a little bitterness at the end. pretty nice.

2005 edition, bought for Christmas 2006 and came in a scotch tube, with a low-ball Mill Street glass. The beer itself is in a stubby bottle and is numbered. I got No. 6000... pretty cool. Pours a dark caramel-brown colour with and off-white head that is not too big, but present and leaves decent lacing. A nice coating tops the brew, with bubbles and stay there in all creaminess. Lots of tiny-bubbled carbonation are slowly moving upwards. The aroma is a mix of butterscotch and dark fruits, like raisins. Syrupy mouthfeel with a strong alcohol finish. No burn though. This one is hazy with very tiny sediments that are all over, just like very fine spices. The caramel malt is in the flavour, with some nicely mixed hops. Lighter fruits like apples and pear appear in the late aftertaste. Overall, pretty good, but was expecting a bit more from this great brewery.

Comes in a brown bottle with their imprinting on it. Its colour is really dark with a slight red highlight. The head is brown, mildly creamy and has pretty good retention. Aromas are overpowered by coffee (which is a good thing since this is a coffee porter) and is hard to detect the roasted malt. The coffee is in the flavour too for sure, but in here, you can taste the molasses too and the roasted malt in the aftertaste. Superb, an excellent porter made with Balzac’s coffee beans (seal is on the bottle).

Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-brown color with a creamy light brown head.
Flavor: It is dominated by the roasted/coffee malts (unsurprisingly), some bitterness in the finish.
Palate: This beer has a relatively long, somewhat bitter finish to it, and it feel almost chalky.
Overall Impression: Overall this beer is relatively one-dimensional. It is completely dominated by coffee. If you like coffee this beer will definitely work for you, if not, well, the title should have told you to stay away, but if the title didn't work, I'll tell you: Stay away...

A golden amber pils with a thin white head. In aroma, a fruity malt with metallic hops. In mouth, a surprisingly good attack of crisp malt and slightly pinhey hops, quite nice, and lingering. Very pleased. Bought at LCBO.

A dark golden amber beer with a thin white head. In aroma, Nestle lemnon tea aroma over nice German hops and some caramel malt. In mouth, a pleasant mix of a classic German pils, crisp and smooth, with lemon tea, with the tea grassyness noticeable, some nice Saaz hops, quite well made. Surprised I actually like this.
