Description

Generation.

Bottle. Pale, opaque gold coloured with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus, grain, yeast and bubble gum. The flavour was similar with some bananas and a whiff of smoke. Good.

Bottle. Amber with a large white head. Slightly smoky aroma with some sweet malt. The flavour had more of the same malt and smoke, with a slightly grainy mouthfeel and dry finish. Good.

Rauchiger, deutlich herber Antrunk. 10/9/97//8

500 ml. brown bottle. The aroma is primarily smoke, but a light smoke, like bacon; accompanied by some caramel malt. Orangy amber color with a white head that quickly ringed. Thin to medium body with moderate carbonation. The flavor is moderately smoky, with some light caramel. Actually rather fresh and clean. The finish is fairly dry, with smoke. It’s an interesting beverage.

Draft. A deep red beer with a collapsing light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of smoke, caramel, alcohol, and berries. The flavor is sweet malty with quite a lot of alcohol, that hits early, but then strong notes of caramel mixes in combined with some fruit, leading to a slightly smoky finish. The alcohol tickles the tongue.

Draft. A slightly hazy golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light citrusy touch. The flavor is sweet malty - and very clean German, but also a bit boring, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish.

Red ruby color, steady creamy beige head. Light malty, grassy hoppy nose, hints of caramel. Malty, toffeish flavor. Soft mouthfeel, chewie malty backbone. Hops are mostly in the background. This beer is not really smokey, but when you know that this should be one, you can trace some Bambergian smoked malts there.

Hazy orange color, creamy steady white head. Lemony, grassy aroma. Lemony-fruity flavor, very citrusy, almost herbal lager. Crisp, refreshing beer with hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle with “bottled on” 5030 whatever that means. Purchased at Beer World of Largo. Pours a clear copper with half inch tan head that lasted a couple of minutes. The aroma has nice even smokiness. Its no eye searing Schlenkerla aroma or some lesser version of the style. It seems right on. Mmmm smoky and woody. The taste has the smokiness outshining the sweet malty backbone. There’s also some mild astringent malt tartness and faint floral hoppiness. Nice flavor to sink my teeth into.
