Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a big frothy white head. Aroma of malts, fruits, yeast, spices, hops, a slight honey flavour. Medium sweetness, hardly any bitterness. Very refreshing and easily drinkable, beer par excellence for warm summer days. This was one of the first ’speciaalbieren’ I was introduced to and it’s still an old favourite. There just might be some nostalgic bias involved though.

Pours a hazy orange with a big white head. Arome of malts, dried fruits, yeast, some floral notes and spice. Noticeable carbonation. Nice Tripel, I shall definitely pay a visit to De Halve Maan when I am in Brugge again.

Aroma of malts, caramel, and lots of dark fruits, such as cherry. Contrary to a lot of Dubbels, this one goes easy on the sweetness, much to my satisfaction. I was already fond of Brouwerij De Halve Maan, and this one only confirms it.

Aroma of malts, fruits, funky yeast, faint spices, some hops. Flavour is wild yeast and fruity sweetness, with some lingering funk and bitterness in the aftertaste. An improvement upon the original Straffe Hendrik Tripel, which is a fine Tripel in the first place, so I am very pleased with this variety. Will store some in my cellar to see how the brett evolution turns out for this brew. Update: 2014 bottle enjoyed in june 2016. Has gotten a little funkier, no surprise there. A bit more depth.

Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, ripe dark fruit, raisins, vanilla, hint of oak, booze, touch of bourbon? Flavour is sweet with a sweet and slightly boozy finish. Pretty good.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso propende per il frumento. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata, permanendo in maniera sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il piano sottostante è velato. Il colore è giallo dorato brillante. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è pronunciato e c'è anche una componente leggermente acidula. La forza gustativa è elevata e la persistenza è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è intenso. Il tetto della bocca porta note di miele, pane, frumento, agrumi, pompelmo, arancia amara e spezie.
