Description
De Halve Maan Brewing Company is a family brewery in the heart of Bruges, Belgium. The brewery was restarted and refined by Veronique Maes in 2005. With unique beer recipe on the work, the brewery was renamed as ‘Brugse Zot’. Brugse Zot beer became the only beer that is personally brewed in the town center of Bruges. The Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik beers are two of the brewery’s finest types of beers. Straffe Hendrik beer is filled with bitter ale while the Brugse Zot is rich in fruity flavor along with different types of malts and hoppy aromas.

750ml bottle, 2024 vintage from Raynville Superstore. It pours dark brown with a long lasting khaki head. The aroma is rich and robust, bitter - sweet, roasted malt, rich dark fruits, plummy, jammy, fig, raisin, sultana, fortified wines, port wine, brandy soaked oak, leather and rich Christmas cake. The taste is initially dry, bitter - sweet, toasty, dark roasted malts, treacle, charred oak, touch of leather, tannin, cacao nibs, tobacco, great depth of dark and dried fruits, plum, prune, date, fig, raisin, sultana, jammy, toasted fruit cake, boozey warmth, fortified wines, touch of spice and nuttiness with dry oak and warming finale. Medium to fulsome body, moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely depth of flavour. Strikes a nice balance. Very enjoyable.

330mL bottle. Pours very dark brown with large, foamy beige head. Aroma has dried fruit, caramel malts, estery Belgian yeast. Flavour has craisins, dates, caramel, some estery Belgian yeast. Maybe a touch too much sweetness. Solid carbonation. Nice.

Draft at Brouwerij De Halve Maan in Bruges, Belgium. The pour is a hazed brown golden with a small light tan head. The aroma is spice aromatic, caramel malt and light earth. The taste is the blend of the caramel malt, yeast and earthiness of the nose, a bit of a lighter bodied version of a Brune but well integrated and executed. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft natural carbonation and the clean finish.

Oranje geel bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig met de typische wilde smaak. Iets van citrus, wat hars en grond smaken maken het af.
