Bottle. Gosh, it looks good, with it’s black body without any carbonation, at least none visible, and a brown lid on top. Mocha, chocolate, a pleasant sweetness and some fruityness and some alochol as well as hops in the aroma. A lovely blend. The flavor doesn’t reach the same level of close-to-perfection, with it’s roastyness and alcohol, as well as bitterness, coffee and chocolate, but it’s damn good anyway. It has a warming touch from the alcohol, it’s full-bodied, and has a finish with the same fine flavors as it starts with. A wonderful, balanced beer leaving you with the desire for more. (071123)

Hazy strawberry-colored beer - dry, herbal, piny, earthy hop aroma, with undercurrents of berries - out-of-balance flavor of strawberry, soapiness, some british maltiness - gets kind of metallic - the hops are tasty, but dominate too much, and get rather astringent - very dry finish.

Hoppin’ Frog’s IPA pours a deep orange-amber color with a thick and fluffy off-white head that features a big popcorn-looking burst in the center. The head slowly diminishes and there is a thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Floral aroma of fresh hops, citrus and some herbs. Medium-bodied and a little creamy with flavors of floral hops and earthy malts primarily, with touches of herbs, spices and citrus in the background. The finish is soft and sweet with malt and toffee and leaves a lingering hoppy bitterness behind. Enjoyable all around.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of Sliffy. Slightly hazy, amber golden with a bubbly, off-white head. Fresh, citrusy nose with piney accents. Medium body, lightly sweet caramel but otherwise completely dominated by the dry citrus hops that also leave quite some bitterness. 291207

Growler from West Point Market in Akron. This brew pours black with a little bit of a ruby highlight. Medium thick and foamy light beige head that has decent retention. Latticework of lace on the glass. Sweet malty aroma with touches of nuts and coffee. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of caramel malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is dry with coffee and hops flavors. Overall this cousin to Old Leghumper is a good Porter and I look forward to it being bottled.

bottle - Pours thick and black with a thin tan head. Dark roast malt and chocolate comprise the aroma. The big, full mouth feel has flavors of those dark roast malts and chocolate along with some coffee. There’s some mild bitterness in the finish and a hint of the alcohol that’s mostly buried under all that malt. Very nice brew.

Pour is a bright orange with a soapy white head. Aroma is nice with lots of pine and citrus. Flavor is your typical hop bomb with some rich malts but a thin mouthfeel. Nothing really new with this one, yes it will satisfy you hop crave but not to the level of jaw dropping as this can be a bit thin at times.
