Description
Arthur Van den Bossche founded the brewery in 1897. After his death in 1925, Elenora Callebaut, Arthur's wife and daughter of the Callebaut brewers and chocolatiers family, continued the brewery. In 1935 Willy and Mark Van den Bossche, the 2nd generation, take the helm and further expand the brewery. Ignace son of Mark Van den Bossche, 3rd generation, becomes active in the brewery in 1976. In 2015 Bruno Van den Bossche takes over the brewery from his father. The 4th generation is now taking the lead.

750 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a firm beige head. Aroma is sweet, mild roasted malt, caramel and fruity. Flavor is sweet, slightly roasted malt, caramel, brown sugar and dry fruit. Long sweet finish.

750 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy. Flavor is fruity, light wheat and a bit spicy. Refreshing but a bit lightweight.

Draught at ZBF08. Clear golden colour. Small stable white head. Weak citric aroma. The flavour is mostly malty, slightly bready, hint of citrus. Spicy aftertaste, yeasty in the good way.

Bottle at ZBF08. Good bready and malty aroma. Very dark brown colour. Small light brown head. Very nice flavour, sweet and malty, some brown sugar but well-balanced.

Draught at ZBF08. Roasted creamy aroma. Quite flavourful. Good roasted, quite sweet. A little vinous aftertaste. Nice.

Draught at ZBF08. A little dark bread in the aroma. Very dark brown colour. Small bubbly light brown head. Quite nice flavour, good bread, roasted. Roasted aftertaste. Quite malty too.

Solid, beige head over an unclear, brownish coloured body. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet and yeasty taste with candy sugar and roasted, sweet caramel. Alright, but too sweet for a higher score (sampled at Belgian Beer Fair, Oslo 10.04.2008).

Bottle at ZBF08. Grainy, wheaty flavour, some yeast. A little sweet. Boring. Clear copper colour. Very small white head.

Clear golden with medium white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with coriander and fruity notes. Sweet flavor with corinder, yeast and orange peel notes. Ends dry.
