Keg tap at the Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Dark brown, translucent, with a Guinnessy beige head. Roasted coffee, hazelnut, malt and nougat candy on the aroma. Bittersweet nutty taste with a strong hoppy bitter finish which stops just short of too much astringency. Espresso and black cherry in the aftertaste. Smooth palate. Too cold, but if you let it warm up a bit it allows the flavours to shine through. A decent keg porter.

Keg at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Amber/copper, almost clear with a slight beige/khaki head. Caramel malt, resin and orange peel in the scent, with a hint of peppercorn. Sweet malty taste with some nice sticky hops.  Disappointingly short finish. Bitter lagery aftertaste. Too cold and too kegged, but there’s bags of potential here.

Black with airy light tan froth. Roasted and hoppy aroma with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and licorice. Roasted flavour with coffee and strong, lasting bitterness. Ok but mouthfeel is a little too light.
