500mL bottle, pours a hazy orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, raisins, loads of candied suagar and a bit of the barrels. Flavour is intensely sweet, moderate whiskey barrels, wood, caramel and candied sugar. Quite sweet, but cut down by the barrels, but now this is very boozy. Not very complex. Not as sweet as the regular, but a lot more hot and boozy. Not so great.

Tap (Hivernale): Poured a light brown color ale with a medium size foamy head. Aroma of spruce tips is quite powerful with light molasses notes also perceptible. Taste is dominated by spruce tips with some residual sugar also perceptible. Body is average as well as carbonation. I get what the goal of this beer is but I am just not sure that spruce beer is something I should be seeking on a regular basis.

All kinds of sugar ad spice in this beer. Aroma has hops booze and candied malt. Pours cloudy red. Aroma has strong bitterness and light sweetness. A good tug o war on the palate that comes off a bit on the inconsistent side. Thick consistency and boozy aftertaste. Friday sample bottle at volos.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours cloudy - almost opaque - deep golden with a small off-white head. Intensely hoppy aroma, very spicy - almost herbal. Full-bodied, solid hops again with a light and spicing edge of ginger. Distinctly hoppy finish. 061112

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Interesting and unusual sweet bubblegum aroma. Medium body, a lightly sweet fresh fruitiness and a late, dry hoppiness. The fresh hops seem to add a pleasant spicy edge if not exactly overly aromatic or bitter. 061112

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear deep amber with an off-white head. Sweet burned caramel in the nose with a subtle hint of licorice. Quite a rich body, molasses and again burned caramel, discreet edge of spices with the nutmeg coming through. Has a warming alcohol finish - so really lives up to it’s name! Enjoyable. 061112

Smells great. Lots of citra hops in the smell with a little malt. Not quite an imperial IPA as the name says, but pretty good. Pours amber orange with great lacing and long lasting head. Bitter finish with a little malt to give the palate some meat. Bottle.
