Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Black color, with beige head. Nice aroma of dark chocolate and dark bread, hot chocolate, milk. The body is well structured, the mouthfeel round; it has a strong flavor of caramel, dark chocolate, with liquorice and some residual sweetness; also has the character from bottom fermentation, with a fruity trace; correct bitterness, with some roasted nuts in the final, and slight oxidization.
A very fine example of the style.

Bottle at Malone’s Urban Drinkery, Vancouver
Cloudy orange-amber color, small head. The aroma has caramel, with a fruity touch, but it seems unfresh. Quite good caramel and toffee flavor, the hopping gives a mild fruity and resiny touch, there is also a very light sour trace; correct bitterness. Not fresh.

2016-11-08, bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver; brewed 2011-01-18; 11.3% ABV, 5 years old, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Good beer, starts being oxidized, but it still has enough bitterness and a good body strength, nutty; tastes like an English Barley Wine that is much older than 5 years.

Dark amber color, mahogany, with red reflexes, and a small sized creamy head. The aroma is full malty, nutty, with some chocolate, some fudge, dusty English notes, hops, maybe some oxidisation. Rich malt flavor, with caramel and hints of liquorice, with a spicy profile; the body is round, and the sweetness is correct and not overpowering; the hopping is bold, well blended in this beer; there is an evident alcohol presence that produces a very pleasant warming effect on the tongue.
Very good Barley Wine, American style.

2094-2096 batches, 11.3% alcohol on the bottle label. Has a weak head and a dark clear-copper body. Thick aroma of sugars and malt, heavy alcohol sweetness. Flavour is soft fruity esters with a sharp finish. The alcohol is well hidden and warms the belly. There are some bitter aftertastes and a lack of complexity which are keeping this from greatness - perhaps some aging is in order.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of vanilla and light boozy notes is very warming. Taste is a nice mix between some caramelized sugar with notes of bourbon and vanilla. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nice BA barleywine with balanced sweetness and proper use of barrel-aging.

Bottle, courtesy of Enjoyit. It pours a hazy, orange-golden body with a small, off-white head. A bit weak on the nose, slightly perfumed, and with pinecones and citrus peel. Malty sugars too. It’s full-bodied and slightly warming, pleasantly carbonated. The flavor has a good bitterness, resins and grapefruit. Bitter finish with an almost balancing sweetness. A quite nice one, the aroma a bit weak though. 110129
