Hazy dark brown. Very coffeeish aroma with some nuttiness. Weak Tim Horton's coffee flavour. Thin body. Not that I've said this about a coffee beer before, but one-dimensional and unimpressive. Waiting for a tea beer - like that lapsang souchong homebrew I was promised for the Ratebeer Homebrew Competition.

Very dark brown. Roasty stout nose with some late hop. Dry, hoppy stout...the finish is roasty and chocolatey. Perhaps a bit thin but decent.

Bottled. Reddish brown. Mildly malty with a lot of caramel flavour. Straight forward.

Amber colour with a nice thick white head. Strong malty aroma with a bunch of hops and some spices. Strong maltiness in the taste. Medium-bodied; A bit of hops detectable as well as malt. Overall, a strong red and pretty good for the style. Overall, definately one to try! I sampled this beer at Joey_Capps' on 13-September-2003 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Clear golden colour, very thin tan head. Malty aroma with a few hops thrown in. Medium to Light-bodied; Subtle malt & hop flavour, not much going on ...fairly subtle. Overall, a decent beer, not great for the style, but nice to try! I sampled this beer at Joey_Capps' on 13-September-2003 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Golden colour, low carbonation, no head. Aroma is all jalapeo, maybe with some salt. All jalapeo all the time in the palate. It’s hot (around 7000 Scovilles), but not nasty like Cave Creek, although it has to be said that Radek fell on his ass while in the middle of taking a leak just following his half-bomber of this beer. There are certainly parallels in the big heat and lack of balance, and I know I’m a little biased because I actually finished my bottle of Cave Creek, but I thought this was a decent beer. There must have been enough of that blond ale base somewhere not to lose me, even though it isn’t readily apparent.

Re-rate shows this one to be rather insipid, moreso than on the first sample. Significant downgrade.

Lightish body, but good, subtle flavour development makes this a fine session ale.

Once of the world's best (during the Shirley Warne era) this beer has not lived up either earlier this year or in August when I was in Halifax. It is nutty, smoothly malty, but has lost the rich earthiness and subtle smoke hint that really set it apart. It's more of a run-of-the-mill brown now. In fact, I find all of all of Garrison's beers have had their formerly well-defined flavours obfuscated now.
