Description
The Home of Esker is at the Australian Hotel & Brewery in Rouse Hill. Our production facility there has been the only brewery in the Hills Shire for the last 12 years. We believe that all roads will eventually lead you home. Inspired by our home in the Hills Shire of Sydney, we craft beers to be enjoyed on that journey.

From a 355ml can on 13/4/2013 (ABV listed as 5.7%, not 5.2%). Pours a cloudy amber with quite a big lasting head. Has a moderate smoky bacon aroma. The flavour is dominated by the smoke, but there is also some sweet fruit and a bit of caramel and nutty malt. Finishes off with a nice firm hope kick. The body is medium to full and the carbonation medium. All up, a very nice, flavoursome brew.

Can (!) Clear darkish amber with an off white head. Aroma of nutty toffee, peaches, spices. Creamy mouthfeel, appropriately low carbonation. Sweetish and malty with balancing bitterness. Peaches, slightly buttery toffee, hint of chocolate, a little peppery. Just slightly muddled on the palate, but tasty and has some character. Bitterness creeps up a little.

Pours copper with a small head.Nose shows banana, grainy malt, caramel, nutty notes and toffee.Pretty similar flavours. Nutty malt and toffee along with some grainy notes.The banana seems totally out of place and the grainy character is unfortunate but not bad otherwise.

Whoop. I think their marketing blurb of having added hops at every stage of the brewing process is true. There are so many hop flavours here it’s almost as if the hops are providing the body. As an amber ale, you’d have to say it’s a fail but as an overhopped American something something it’s pretty delicious. Very smooth, hides its alcohol well.

[8/11] Tap. Very pale yellow, white head. Light malts, some tropical fruit, indistinct weedy bitterness, a little funk that seemed out place. ,[2.5]Can. Much better. Not much going on on the malt side of things but there’s tropical and grassy hops and the finish - whilst a bit on the low side for bitterness for me - is clean and fairly dry. a pretty good summery quaffer.
