Geen datum, maar deze stond al even. Schenkt zo goed als zwart met een bruine kraag die redelijk snel verdwijnt. Geur van koffie(dik), geroosterde mout, zoetig. Ook wat fruitzurig retronasaal. Smaak is zoetig, bitterig, geroosterd, iets fruit (of koffie-) zurig. Medium body. Afdronk is geroosterd, bitterig, koffie, lekker.

I have a 16 oz can from an east coast retailer. I've appreciated Drowned Lands before, let us see how that continues. My New Belgium glass is ready for the pour before I do so. A clearish pale gold liquid topped with a decent level of ice white foam. The nose is subtly filled with hops, a bit of tropical fruit and likewise with citrus, none standing out. The taste elevates the beer. Moderate with grapefruit, malt, a small pineapple sweetness and a decent hops bitterness. For the beer being a DIPA, I anticipated a fuller sensation, didn't get it. Not bad, not great.

Draught at the brewpub, small stable creamy head, murky vibrant yellow coloir with orange hues, mellow citrus, onion, green leaves and dunk, empathic medium green bitterness, just a hint of sweetness. Well made and highly enjoyable.

Draught at the brewpub, coal black colour, roasted maltiness, coffee, a bit of smoked meat and chocolate in the aftertaste, medium bodied and not too heavy. Really nice and enjoyable.

Poured from an undated can into a chalice glass

Pours a transparent gold with a about a quarter finger of white head that settles rather quickly leaving a thin cover. A little sticky lace resides.

Aroma is light peppery spice, banana and citrus. Light malt aroma as well

Taste is banana and light citrus, moves into a bit of semi sweet grainy malt and hints at peppery spice with some alcohol notes coming in the end.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a lighter carbonation than expected. Fairly smooth, definitely a sipper. On the sweet side without being cloying

Overall it's rather simple, which can be good but I was hoping for a bit more complexion. It also has a bit lower carbonation than expected. I'd try this again if it was dated. I would guess my can is on the older side but I'd expect this beer to hold up well over time. Reading the other reviews I wonder if they rework the recipe on this one? It's enjoyable enough but I'd reach for Allagash Tripel and definitely a true Trappist Tripel first.
