Bottle: Really deep amber coloured, or as the germans say: SCHWARZ, presumably clear with a small off-white foamy layer, moderate sweetish toasty-ashy nose completed by a tinge of bitter chocolate; moderate ( to solid) sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, quite soft; ashy finish with some chocolatey/caramelly bitterness. Astonishingly good for a beer from the crappy InBev company…

Rated this on the train from Jena to Lichtenfels and managed to skip entering the rating. Good thing I checked while adding pics. Anyway, this poured a golden body with a medium to big white head. Slightly metallic dry herbal hoppy nose. The taste starts with dry herbal hoppiness, which stands in front of a vague pear & honey maltiness. This is ok actually, far better than the regular stuff (which was the only beer we could get on the first night in Jena and I’d probably lower its rating if I’d bothered to keep notes during the party). As the Schwarz showed, Hasseröder CAN brew well when they try.

Fra kran på Pieper’s Bistro i Goslar 10 Mar 12. Gyldenbrun. Lavt kremaktig skum. Søt maltaroma. Smaken er litt syrlig søt malt. Litt bitterhet i ettersmaken. Kjedelig.

Older bottle. Looks good. Like it better than the actual Hasseröder design. Beer in the glass surprisingly zippy, small head. Starts strong and spicy, more and more grasy-sourish, a bit moldy. Finish milder, still a bit sourish, spicy aftertaste. Better than exspected.
