Bottle from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Malty and hoppy aroma with citrus, pale malt, some orange, touch of pine and caramel. Flavour is medium bitter with some sweetness. Medium body. A fine if unexciting English-style IPA or a hoppy Golden.

Bottle, gift. Aroma is grainy cereal malt with a touch of lightly grassy noble hop. Flavour is sweetish with a mild bitterness. Medium body. Decent basic Lager but a bit sweeter than I like 'em.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Wonderfully malty aroma with lots of rich caramel and toffee notes. Also a bit fruity with raisins, some oak and toasty/nutty nuances. Medium sweet with a mild bitterness, lightly sticky. Very nice!

Purchased at Liquor Shed in Casper for US$3.70
This ours from 550ML bottle a very dark brown with a large offwhite head of foam that just won't quit. And...there's plenty of lacing so it's really a very nice brew when looking into my glass.
The smell hits my nose with a lot of sweet and roasted malt and is very nice.
The taste follows the nose to a T. A big abundance of roasted malt with some sweet tones followed by a nice oatmeal flavour and lesser notes of anise and citrus tang. Wow, the mix of flavours really work well together and *force* me to take sip after sip. Very drinkable and it makes for an *excellent* session brew. I could drink this one all night long. The carbonation is medium light and the mouthfeel is silky smooth. I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this before as it's simply an outstanding example of the style and is easy on the wallet. Highly recommended!!

355ml bottle from Stirchley Wines & Spirits, West Midlands. Pours a near black with a beige head. Aromas & tastes of coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, liquorice & malt. Medium body. Long rich light bitter finish. Well balanced & very enjoyable

550ml bottle and my first from Samuel Smiths. Pours black, moderate sized tan head, decent retention. Aroma is cocoa nibs, milk chocolate, sweet, hint of roast. Taste is the same, although the roasted element comes through more, and combined with a dry bitterness it offsets the sweetness well. There is a reasonable smoothness to this although the carbonation is a little too lively. Enjoyable although personally I prefer Youngs Double Chocolate Stout in the battle of the export beers, even though it is now owned by a macro.

50cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours red amber, clear, with fine whitish foam. Aroma is malty and caramel, and also a little earthy. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium sweet, with just a hint of bitterness. Final is average.
