Description

Bottle is labelled as 8.5% although their own website suggests that it’s 7%??? Dark red colour. Quickly fading head. Aroma has some sweet malts, alcohol and some leaf. Flavour of sweet malts, caramel, raisin and a touch of smoke. Has a whiskey-cola feel to it. Quite rich and syrupy.

Bottle (30 cl?) thanks to ekstedt! He got it from Cracked Kettle. BB Dec 2012, sampled on April 16, 2011Marked Code 1-2009, and only as Explosie.Clear dark copper to brown color, very small white head, mere small bubbles here and there. Sweet, resin, vinous, alcohol scent. Very sweet, malty, sticky, honey taste. Taste is very different from the scent, in a good way, also the alcohol does not come out nearly as much. Smooth mouthfeel, fairly low bitterness.Didn’t know anything about the beer before I tasted it, though guessed it a Barley Wine on taste, and a pretty good one taste wise too. I like the sweetness in it for sure, ended up drinking most of the bottle when my taste buddies didn’t care as much of it as I did.

Bottle at Jan & Charlotte’s, Ulfborg, Denmark, 08.04.11 Brown with an off-white head. This quite tangy, little bit sour but also very hoppy, strange beer though and a tad unbalanced some washing up liquid, hops are really all over the place. This is a bit rough around the edges. Bottled. Explosively foamy upon opening. Cloudy amber with lively head. Yeasty, resiny nose. Funky and spicy, relatively light bodied with excessive carbonation. A wealth of spicy hops and funkiness, long bitter orange finish. Really interesting and flavourful, so the lasting impression remains positive even considering the obvious flaws.
