Cask and bottle. Black body with ruby highlights and a medium beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of plum, ash, espresso and peppery biscuit. Flavour of treacle and tangy plum with a bitter, burnt finish. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A rich, flavoursome beer that I return to again and again.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of black pepper, tangerine and stewed pear. Flavour of pepper, white bread, orange and a hint of yeast. Medium body with a creamy texture. Lively fizz. A lovely beer - my favourite yet from Knops (although I’ve still to try Black Cork, which I hear is mighty fine).

Pale yellow beer with a thick bubbly head and strong aroma of grapefruit. Flavour is more lemony, with a dry hoppy twist and a rather airy finish. The flavour does’t linger much but it’s a crisp, dry and refreshing beer.
