Cloudy dark brown with short lived white head. Keeps bubbling for a long time. Aroma is fruity with hints of honey, burnt malt and black berries. Flavour is a bit thin with some alcohol but there is a pleasant aftertaste of blackcurrant and hops.

Nice ruby color, medium to small head. Pretty neutral aroma, maybe there's some black currant. Somewhat fruity flavour, too much alcohol. Dry, piney finish. Nice attempt from Carlsberg but it lacks in complexity.

Amber color. Some malt aroma. Poor body, some sweetness without any character. Deceiving.

A brown beer with an OK head. It has the aroma of yeast with fruity notes. It has a fresh bitter taste of berries. An OK beer - but if I want a abbey style beer I'd rather have a Westvleteren, Rochefort or other original. And if I want one of Carlsbergs Semper Ardens beers this is my last choice.

Chestnut brown. Lively, dry and complex with banana aroma. .................

Re-Rate aged bottle BB 5.3.02 Vinous oaky nose, quite nice, but a tad one-dimensional. Red chestnut colour, no head. Cracker-malt, dusty hops, wooden notes, bubble-gum, berries - the flavors do not really go well hand in hand. Relative light body - definitely lacks meat, a bit fizzy mouthfeel. Oaky aftertaste. While the fresh Abbey Ale taste a lot like a red Chimay it does not seem to age as gracefully as its counterpart. The strawberry and banana notes and the overall sweetness of the fresh sample are gone and have been replaced with a somewhat thin flavor-profile.
