Description
Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.

We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.

You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

Handpull cask at the Barrel Micropub, Mansfield Woodhouse. Mid- to dark brown, translucent with a tight beige/khaki head. Aroma is dominated by sweet coconut milk, some milk chocolate. Sweet, sweet taste, more coconut with sugary plumage the edges. Medium to full body with soft to medium carbonation. Very nice.

Can picked up from Tip Inn, Loscoe Sunday 8th June 2025. Consumed at home after a nice day in Nürnberg, we had a homemade Chilli con Carne, Wednesday 18th June 2025 listening to ByteFM. Yeah tbf after a day of beer drinking I probably didn't really need this to finish on, but I have and it's a good beer. Pours shark eye black with a tan head. Dark bitter chocolate tries to peak its head above the bourbon wafts, there's also a little roasted malts but yeah the bourbon clearly wins out here. In the mouth a similar story but the dark chocolate and bitter cocoa powder, show more. Smooth in the mouth, a very decent barrel aged stout.

Can picked up from Tip Inn, Loscoe Sunday 8th June 2025 and consumed at Isobel's Monday 9th June 2025 listening to New Music Fix on 6,Music with Nate Shepherd and Deb Grant. We had Chicken Tikka, Tarka Dhal and a Tikka Marsala Sauce for tea and it was fab'. Pours black with a beige, actually tan head. Roasted malts on the nose along with bitter, dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Nice smoothness, chocolate and roasted malt dominates, a pleasant warmth, good stout.

On tap keg at the Tip Inn, Loscoe, in the company of Dad and Pauline, Sunday 8th June 2025. Pours black with a beige head, this is bang on for a milk stout, okay it's not a preferred style of mine but it's a good example. Sweet, a little lactose light, very light roast, decent.
