Bottle. Clearing out the fridge. Clear dark brown. Very decent thin tan head. Nose is remarkably none existent. Hint of caramel malt, at most. Taste follows suit. There’s literally nothing happening here. Watery and fizzy. Wow. Pointless.

Half pint, cask, shared with Finn at Murderers. Clear warm golden body, patches on the surface, clingy lacing. Inviting herbal hops and orange on the nose. Refreshing taste of sappy orange and oily hops. Mid-dry, fruity bitter end. Quite alright. (Norwich 11.11.2021).

Bottle. Ringstead Stores, Ringstead, Norfolk. Clear amber. Fine and sticky white foam. Nose has light toffee. Nutty malt. Digestive biscuit. Taste has a biscuit sweetness, turning a little dry, and moderately bitter. Light body with high-ish carbonation. Light bitter finish. Ok bitter, probably best suited to cask conditioning.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Roast malts and liquorice in the nose. Immediate reaction is the mouth is of the fruitiness. Raspberries and plums to the fore. Malts lurk in the background with hints of liquorice. Fruits again in the finish. This is rather nice.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. The nose has the typical Belgian bubblegum esters plus hints of spices too. In the mouth it has an ooverall sweetness featuring bananas, cinnamon and raisins with some general spiciness also. Malts come through in the finish. Very nice – I can’t believe it’s not Belgian !
