Description

Note: this beer is served in De Bistronoom as their housebeer, called "Den Aangespoelden", according to the owners it was already sold at their place before "Belle Cies" was put on the market.
Cloudy yellow to light orange beer. White creamy head. Aroma: very hoppy, spicy, some malts, faint yeast aroma, some of the alcohol on warming up. MF: ok fine carbon, medium body. Taste: full malts, fruity touch (peaches), hops, hint of candi sugar. Aftertaste: some candi sugar, but not cloying, taste and not too dry hops.

Bottle at Kerstbier Festival, Essen, Belgique, 19.12.10 Hazy amber in appearance with a white rim for a head. Yeasty and spicy, quite fizzy in the mouth, some banana and sweet shop candy going on also, like those pink candy shrimps you got when you were a kid, fine but not something that I necessarily want in my beer. (bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, orangeto golden colour with a blond and huge foamy head. Yeasty and citrus-fruity aroma with slightly sweet malty, wheaty-like notes. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a lively carbonation. Yeasty and softly malty taste with moderately fruity notes of citrus; yeasty and mildly fruity finish with a slightly βwheatyβ malty finish, accompanied by some shy hoppy notes. Quite a simple, almost average brew. 29XI.10

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big and blond, slowly lacing foamy head. Yeasty and moderately sweet and bready malty aroma with apricot- and lemon-fruity notes. Sweet flavour, almost full bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Slightly sugary bready malty taste with notes of lemon, leading into a sweet-bitter slightly hoppy and spicy finish with a well-masked alcoholic strength. Not very complex but clean and easy-going. 27.XI.10

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, deep golden colour with a big and slightly off-white foamy head. Sugary sweet cara-malty aroma with subtle fruity notes, gingerbread and herbal and yeasty spice. Sweet flavour with a tinge of sourness in the background, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Discreetly cara-malty taste with notes of candy and a spicy touch; sweet and slightly fruity-sour finish with notes of candy which seems to cover the alcohol well. 27.XI.10

Pours a golden orange beer, white adhesive creamy head. Aroma is fruity, honey, malt, almost flowery. MF: sparkling, full body, creamy texture. Taste is malty, fruity (peach?), honey, a little sweet and soft hops. Aftertaste is still fruity with a very little sugar, somewhat dryer and a hint of tropical fruits and spices. Really nice beer for 6.5 ABV!

Bottled 330ml (Beer Planet, bottled 03/2010)
Hazy yellow-orange color, small white head. Orange peels, orange jam, yeast and light elderberry note in the aroma. Medium bodied. Crisp carbonation. Fruity, sweetish flavor of orange, banana, herbs and lime. A bit yeasty flavor too. Refreshing but a bit too alcoholic to drink for thirst. Suprisingly rye, oat or spelt are not very evident here. When beer warms up, it is slightly grainy.

Slightly hazy amber color, steady white head. Apricot fruityness, some fruit sugars and a bit paper in the nose. Medium to full bodied. Quite similar to "Den Tseut" but less yeasty and a bit more alcoholic and but more balanced. Alcohol, apricot fruityness, hops and sweetness. Lingering hoppyness and fruit sugars in the aftertaste.
