Dark brown colour with a beige head. Sweet malty and some fruity notes in the aroma. Toffee and plum flavour. Not to sweet and a nice thick texture.

Draft: Body odor smell. Crystal clear chestnut, medium off white head. Mildly nutty, but somewhat like dishwater. Thin and watery.

Draught @ Cains Brewery Tap, 35 Stanhope Street, Liverpool, Merseyside, England L8 5XJ.Clear medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, caramel, toasted, toffee, old malt, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, old malt, sugary malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120116]

Cask @ Doctor Duncans, Liverpool. Aroma is like damp wood. It’s disappointingly thin and watery and the flavour is not nice. It’s like apple pips and wood. Really awful lingering aftertaste.

[Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Bronze-black with no head. Sweet fruit and caramel up front with a decent earthy bitterness to finish. Rather enjoyed it.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before July 09, drank in Mar 09. Poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass. Looked like a darker than normal crystal weiss bier, but otherwise the same as you’d expect from Germany. Plenty of bubbles and a good white head. The aroma reminded me of Belgian Blondes, not Wheat beers. No banana or vanila, but there is a smell of melon and kiwi fruit. The taste isn’t your normal Weissebier one either, not as tart or citrus in flavour, but tangy and sharp non-the-less. The combination of wheat and barley malts certainly give it a pleasant taste and mouthfeel, if not the traditional wheat beer flavours don’t appear. This is a very drinkable beer and although not true to type and why should it be? I liked it and wholeheartedly recommend it.
