29/1/2026. Cask at the 17th Colchester Winter Ale Festival. Nice pour. Aroma is sweet, malty, citrus, straw, light tropical and mango notes. A little stewed and buttery. Quite sweet, light to moderate bitterness and body. Bitterness comes through a little more to finish. Not bad.

Bottle from Morrisons. Clear amber/ruby body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of chocolate, earth, caramel and malt loaf. Flavour of toffee, stewed tea and dried cranberries. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Tasty and moreish. The colour is great and there’s a nice sweet edge to it.

Cask at Archibald Simpsons. It pours clear reddish brown with a medium, sturdy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, toasted fruit cake, brown bread, touch of caramel, some tanginess and earth. The taste is bitter - sweet, firm dryness, brown bread, earthy, toasty grains, some warming spice, nuttiness and tree bark with a drying, toasty finish. Average body and moderate cask carbonation. Decent malt driven beer. Not super drinks el though, a half was fine.
