Well, I'll mention the peat flavour. It's there, in Lowland quantities mind you. Otherwise, bright auburn; aroma like a dense forest of Douglas fir, meat pie and Auchentoshan; a little thin & metallic though (has it gone off a bit?); earthy malts, touch of toasted caramel. Finishes to quickly.

Suberb dark ale - nearly a stout, but has a more complex and delicate aroma and flavour. Very well balanced. As close to โ€™perfectโ€™ as you possibly can get. This rating is based on cask in Scotland.

Sampled cask conditioned. Red-brown. Light bodied, hop aromatic. Hints of smoke and grapefruit. Complex and very tasty.

Deep dark garnet, off-white medium sized head. Vanilla, plum, tobacco and wine nose, and maybe a little bit of smoke. Rich smoky flavor with a dry finish. A bit cloying and pungent- enough to challenge the palate and make it a bit hard to finish.

This dark, potent brew is loaded with sweet, dark, smoky malts, and a long, warming finish. It may be poetic to suggest that this is the beer world's answer to Highland Park, but it would also be fairly accurate.

Very interesting- I highly recommend it. A strong malty and smoky scotch ale. Dark amber with a smoky nose. High ABV but not overbearingly so. Too much of this could def cause it to live up to its name. Quite drinkable.
