Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

473mL can, pours a clear bright golden with a white head. Aroma reveals a complex red berry character, with a nice wild yeast character and gentle tartness. Flavour is bright, with that exotic berry character upfront, gentle twrtneee, and some of the wild bugs poking through subtly. Not particularly complex but several steps above a fruited kettle sour. Quite pleasant.

Hazy, warm dark straw colour with a thick, even head. Doughy, yeasty, medium body but low bitterness. This one is shaky, especially in the doughy/yeasty character that doesn't really flow for any known lager style.

On tap at Four Winds, pours a mostly clear rose red with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry chamomile, some rose notes, and hibiscus. Flavour is quite fruity, with plenty of hibiscus, gentle rose, and a touch of chamomile. Fairly dry, with a slightly spicy, very lightly sweet finish.

Poured from 473mL can. Cloudy blonde with white head. Citrus hops, hint of pine, nice aroma, but a little bland on the taste. Still decent.

473 ml can. Pours a cloudy amber with moderate head. Aromas of orange juice, mango, creamy pineapple, and wheaty malts. Flavors follow same with additional lupilin powder. Creamy for a hazy, rather than pithy…

Opaque, pale yellow. Medium bitterness and pithy grapefruit hop character. Lean malts. Bigger body than a 2.9% beer ought to have. Credible, sessionable, balanced. I'm here for this.

473mL can, pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, bready malt, and a hint of dry caramel. Flavour is nice and malty, with plenty of bready malt, a hint of dark fruits, toasted nuts, and gentle earthiness. Really nice bready malt and toasted nuttiness on the finish. Very good for the style.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Yellow colour, cloudy, bright. The aroma is very fruity: stone fruits (ripe apricot),and tropical fruit. Full bodied, quite some residual sweetness, but it's needed; the base is creamy, and not starchy; the bitterness is on the low side, but it's in line with the Hazy canon; the juiciness of the hops shines, with a blend of apricot pulp, mango, smooth banana? Maybe; and it ends with an evident alcohol punch.
Excellent.
