Bottle, 9%. Vinous, liquorice, earth aroma. The flavour is vinous and slightly oxidized. Probably aged. Good but not flavourful enough to justify 9%.

Somewhat murky chestnut brown. Sweet and sugary with a light nuttiness and faint toffee on the nose. Mushroomy taste, lightly toffeeish with hints of brown sugar. Maybe a little bit light for my tastes in this style, water in the finish.

Bottled at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Clear dark brown. Bready roasty and dense. Sweet with near full body. Lots of toasty bready, dough and licorice. Low bitterness. Powerful without becoming sticky. Really good!

Small white head. Yellow body. Floral honey aroma, very assertive and one-dimensional. Dryish plastic floral honey taste. Thin-bodied and watery. The aftertaste is the same. Very, very one-dimensional. If it were more complex and fuller-bodied it could be quite nice. (0.1l taster draft at EBF ’08.)
