Description
Crux is a crossroads, an intersection, the heart of something. In brewing it's that pivotal point where fermentation happens and anticipation mounts.
We’re Crux Fermentation Project— housed in a former AAMCO Transmission Plant and inspired by our location right in the heart of Bend, Oregon. Our brewery is a one-of-a-kind, built for non-traditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation and barrel aging, and for leveraging the limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, dense, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty, minimally spicy and minimally BA supported aroma, notes of dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, a touch of Bourbon, whiffs of cinnamon, dark caramel; widely disguised, grassy hoppy background. Taste is roasty and chocolately, dark malty, sweet-ish caramel malty and slightly fruity-alcoholic, minimally spicy, notes of dark caramel, dark chocolate, some coffee, molasses, plum, plum wine, plum butter, Bourbon, a touch of cinnamon, minimally pungent hop bitterness lends freshness and airiness; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Creamy to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation. Rich and intense, balanced on a high level of sweet- and bitterness, distinct and clean malt flavours - very good.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Deep golden pour, abundant foamy white head. Aroma is earthy, grassy. Taste is subtle, caramel, woody, with some faint hoppy notes at the back. Very subdued for a fresh hop beer. Very drinkable.

On tap at Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood, pours a clear golden with a small white bead. Aroma has doughy malt and what seem like expired hops. Flavour is better, with soft doughy malt, very soft fruity hops, and a touch of pine. Very soft and fresh, though not particularly assertive. Solid enough.

16 oz can poured. 4 pack from the local liquor store, and I basically pulled this pack right off the delivery truck the other day and waited for them to add the new sku. Canned 9/5/24. Fun and fresh! Pours a clean golden orange. Lemony, citrus hop oil, bitter front, grassy and dank. Ripe fruit and citrus hop aroma. A bit hot on the nose. Slight caramel malt dares to balance on flavor, but that citrus, lemon drop hop character really hangs on late. Overall a fun, solid fresh hop.

500mL bottle. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma has rye bread, whiskey barrel, dark chocolate. Flavour has toasted rye, whiskey, dry wood. This is an excellent rye imperial stout; great use of barrels.
