On cask at the Cask and Barrel. Appearance - golden with a slight haze. Nicely proportioned head. Nose - lemon but primarily green stalky and herby notes. Some flowers. Taste - more plant notes and some citrus. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - the overall impression on the palate is good. It lacks any notes on nose or taste that get me excited though.

500ml bottle. Clear very dark brown colour, foamy off-white head that leaves some lacing, and aroma of malt, dark chocolate, caramel. Taste is roasted malty with chocolate, berry fruit notes and an earthy bitterness. Watery mouth feel, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry roasted bitter finish. Quite OK.

Gravity dispense at Merton Winter BF ’13. Mid black with a good sized frothy tan head. Nose is roast malt, cardboard, nutty tones. Taste comprises roast malt, light chocolate, dark toffee. Medium bodied but a little on the thin side for a 5 % beer, moderate carbonation, dry in the finish. Ok - not one I’d rush back to though!

Dark bitter with a slight brown glow to it and the thinnest of heads. It has a more than average bitterness to it which dominates its character.

Probably a bad cask given it had a watery texture and flavour despite looking the part with a superb thick and creamy head.
