Description
Welcome to Little Mesters Brewing, we are a micro brewery and tap room in the brewing heartland that is the 'Steel City' of Sheffield. Our aim is simple 'to brew great tasting beers accessible and enjoyable for everyone'. We are committed to producing only quality beers using the best ingredients. From lagers to imperials, don't worry, we've got you covered.
Established in 2020 in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic it's safe to say things were not plain sailing getting things off the ground, it took time for us to learn the brewery and all it's quirks as well as try and establish a brand that would do justice to the amazing recipes and beers we had planned. We arrived at the name 'Little Mesters' and instantly knew we had found what we were after. The name and logo are a nod to the Little Mesters who were undoubtedly the backbone of Sheffield’s cutlery and tool making industries of days gone by.

440ml can from Craft & Berry. Gluten Free. Pale golden colour, white foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of citrus, pale malt, grassy. Taste is sweetish, malty, bready, with citrusy notes and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, high carbonation, finish is dry citric malty bitter. Quite drinkable.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines Sheffield. Hazed pale bronze. Nicely sticky, just off white foam. Nose has marmalade on well buttered toast. Some ripe berry. Heavy grain. Taste is pretty sweet, turning a big hit of sappy, baked citrus bitter. Smooth and reasonably full bodied. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Really good take on an old school IPA.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Light haze on a pale copper gold. Fine white head is semi lacing. It looks way less like a hazy IPA than the Original Pale I just had from the same brewer. Anyhoo. Nose has a touch of twang. Some vinous fruit. Some lime. Sweet malt. Taste follows suit, at which point I’m realising this is probably a bit wonky. I’m guessing there’s a bit too much oxygen knocking about here. Not so good.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Medium haze on a medium gold. Firm, thick, just off white foam stays the course admirably. Nose has lightly spicy grain. Clean and fresh hop notes, along the lines of orange and white peach. Some herbal notes. Taste is a little sweet to start, turning nicely bitter. Light to medium body with brisk carbonation. Assertive bitterness to finish. Possibly warranted adding as an APA as it’s definitely hopped up enough. Either way this new, tiny brewery is off to a seemingly flying start.

330ml can from Mitchells Wines Meadowhead - Cloudy amber body, no head. Nose is powdery ginger, some light hop characteristics, taste a little spicy at the start, finishes rather bland. Not the best of the trilogy by far.

330ml can from Mitchells Wines Meadowhead - Deep black body, tan head. Nose has lots of coffee and caramel, sweet brown sugar. Taste kicks off milky coffee, some chocolate, very sweet. Another good one from my most local brewery.

Can. Craft and Berry, Sheffield. Xmas tick gift from the missus. Slightly muddy dark brown. Fine beige head stays the course. Nose has Xmas selection box chocolate. Thick caramel. Coffee Revels. Taste is sticky sweet, with a very moderate, vinous bitterness. Smooth, light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Lightest touch of bitterness to finish. Pretty decent and definitely well made, as you might expect from (apparently) a couple of ex Carlsberg brewers.
