Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a deep brown appearance with a somewhat thin dark brown head. Mild whiskey, chocolate, somewhat woody, toffee, caramel aroma. Flavor is full of chocolate truffles, rich toffee, and very mild whiskey. The whiskey is tamed down well and very nicely complements the beer.

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of dusty hops, malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, bread, alcohol, and bread, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks pinball for sharing.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours an almost clear amber with a dense and lively off-white head leaving some lacework - creamy shaving foam. Sweet caramel and even pumpernickel in the nose. Rich body, lowish carbonation, rich in caramel, again pumpernickel and a warming alcohol finish. Feels like a very very straight and easy going Doppelbock. 250213

Bottle, 75cl. It’s an unclear one, yellow in color, and with some white bubbles on top. Sourish, fruity aroma with a faint sewer-like touch. Lemony and lightly funky. It’s fruity on the palate, dry and acidic, with a pleasant carbonation. Lemon, funk and a little bit of pale malts in the flavor. Medium body. Lasting sourish, almost vinegar-ish finish. A quite pleasant one, but it’s lacking a bit on balance and complexity. 130216
