About
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but like most breweries of the time, it went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, Dan Selis, an avid homebrewer, re-established the brand and has built it into one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and slight mliky. Light fruity and slight fruity. Vague citrusy. Light grassy, crisp hoppy. Bitter and mild citrusy finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Myrup. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a lively white head. A little malt, fruit and yeast in the nose. Medium body, heavy carbonation, sweet malts and dry and an almost astringent finish. 130211

Bomber pours clear deep gold with off white head. The aroma is a mix of grapefruit, tangelo, citrus cotton candy sweetness, pears and faint pineapple followed by some spicy hops that poke up near the end of the draw. The taste is juicy grapefruit and tangelo goodness followed by muted mango tropical like notes and then a modest level of resiny hop bitterness. This is an easy drinkin’ IIPA.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 2/2/11

Aroma: The nose is mostly resin, orange, and grapefruit hops, with some caramel notes as well
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear amber-orange color with a fairly fizzy white head
Flavor: The taste is fairly hoppy, with a solid fruity sweetness and some nice resiny bitterness
Palate: On the palate side, the body is medium, with a sticky mouthfeel and average (plus) carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a pretty tasty IPA. I found it to be a very solid example of the San Diego style of IPA. It is resiny and flavorful with a solid sweetness and a nice drinkability. I'd go for this one again.

Darker pour, but not brown or black. Thin but rocky head. Just a good ol light beery aroma. Stronger bitter malt impact comes across like much more than 5%. Weird hop finsh grows more intimate as the session continues. Evolves into bitter citrus rind personality. Then becomes oily as it hits the back of the throat.

S5L3F4T5O15 MISSION CALIF BLONDE ALE: Pour is pale and a little cloudy. From a big bomber for $4! Decent, clean sweeter, aroma. Good sizzly CO2 on the first taste, lovely palate. Yep, friendly and civilized, nice attitude for a lager lover. Quite laid back and I enjoy that. Seems to be quite sessionable. Head stays rocky and the flavor remains quite enjoyable thru the session. After a while the CO2 subsides into a more flat beer yet the sizzle remains in the background. Aroma continues to be somewhat fruity and odd but in a nice way. Taste is mellow and easy to like, I’m starting to think this is a good session beer. Continues to be tasty and creamy even to the end. No real bitter finish but there is enough personality there to let you know its beer! Likeable with some very slight hints of lemon in the background but I would have not noticed it in a 12 oz sample. The label says 5% but it tastes much more like 4% to me.

This brew pours a cloudy amber-orange color with a medium fluffy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Grapefruity hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with a citrusy hops character along with notes of pine and malt. The finish is moderately bitter hops with a short citrus aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Secret Santa 2010. Pours clear orangish color with off white head. Citrus and floral hop aromas. Citrus and pine flavors with some sweet caramel and moderate bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. A decent IPA. Thanks Andrew.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, bread, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bread combined with medium notes of malt and caramel, and lighter notes of alcohol, leading to a dry, lightly bitter, and alcoholic finish.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Shop Rite - Hoboken, 11/15/10

Aroma: The nose has some peach, grapefruit, mango, pine, toffee, and a little bit of earth
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear amber-orange color with a small white head and drips of lace
Flavor: The taste has sweet/ripe fruity notes, some toffee malts, and a nice hop backing
Palate: The body is on the sticky side, and it certainly has that West Coast IIPA feel to it
Overall Impression: I'm always excited to walk into a store and see a new San Diego DIPA, in my opinion the best IPA locale in the country. This one isn't by any means on the level of the best that city has to offer, but it is a pretty enjoyable beer none-the-less. I just really enjoy that San Diego IIPA feel, and this beer has it. Nice stuff.
