Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

Like orange juice you've left out too long... Really accurate way to put it, tart with a bitter finish. Dry notes throughout.

Smokey nose, charred oak but also sweet notes from the rye foward flavors, and probably a metric ton of chipotle peppers cause they're present throughout the whole thing. Brave saison. Still think smoke belongs in whisky. Actually like the spice though.

My wife purchased this in SFC: pours sort of misty gold with a white head. Aroma is woody, coffee, funk, earth. Taste is tart and sort of sour. Somewhat woody. Not too acidic. Very interesting.

Much ocean water mellowed out by french oak. Does remind me of the sea.

750 ml bottle. Aroma is oaky, leathery, cherry, plum, cigar ash, tobacco, peppers. Pours dark brown with a beige head that collapses after a minute into nothing, leaving no foam or head whatsoever. Taste is a little sour (6/10) and a little spicy with a lingering burn. Foamy mouthfeel, but almost watery. Pretty weird beer, but I like it overall.
