500ml bottle from Alesela. Gusher! Lost a bit on opening, even though it was damned cold. Murky dark brown with a massive rocky head. Metallic aromas, but chocolate and toffee underneath. Nice creamy texture, bitter roasty finish. Carbonation way too high! Would like to try as a cask beer.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Hazy amber body with a thin off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of copper, marzipan and Christmas pudding. Flavour is a bit weird - earth, spice, nuts, icing sugar and candied plum. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Faint carbonation prickle. An odd beer - not undrinkable by any means, but just very unusual and not particularly moreish. Liquidised Christmas pudding.

A shared 50cl bottle @ allmyvinyl’s homebrew gathering. This ticks all the boxes you’d expect from the style but at this strength I’d want something that has more layers of flavour. There’s a lot of dark chocolate and coffee.

500ml bottle shared at home. Dark brown with a big tan head, a bit over-carbonated, and prickly on the palate because of that. Initially very fresh-tasting, but lots of toffee and chocolate and coffee coming through as it warms up. A woody note towards the end. Not bad.
