Bottle from Beer Hive, Edinburgh [310513]
Caramel brown, clear, thin bubbly off white head, not much lacing
Aroma - Very fruity malts, red berries, touch of raspberry, hedgerow fruits, big fruity aroma
Taste - Fruity malts, red berried, dab of caramel toffee, touch of chocolate, subtle but actually quite complex for the abv
Palate - Medium carb, light body, little over carbonated, smooth. Finish as main flavour, more chocolate comes through in the finish
Overall - Has a strong fruity aroma, taste has more chocolate malts that become more dominant in the finish. I’m not sure this is a dark lager at all, but it’’s an interesting, innovative, quite complex rather quirky brew. I like it.

Cask version, 3.6% abv, by hand pump at The New Oxford Winter Ales Festival, half pint, shared with Finn. Clear dark-brown coloured body. Thin but lasting tan-coloured head. Inviting smell of grainy malts with fruity notes. Taste of grainy malts added by a little tartness. Roasted endnotes. Different and quite tasty (Greater Manchester, 27.01.2013).

Bottle at home. Dissapointing after the 56/ and the Pale. Not a lot going on really.
